Various Centrifugal Pumps

Centrifugal pumps
Pumps are commonly introduced in industries for a smooth operation in transferring the fluids from one area to another. Many types of pump are used for various purposes. Centrifugal pumps are multi-purpose pumps suitable in a range of different applications demanding reliable and cost-effective functioning. These pumps are stared for its simplicity and use centrifugal force to move fluids through piping systems.
Basically, the Centrifugal Pump is built around an impeller, in series with radial vanes of different shapes and curvatures, revolving in a rounded casing. Fluid enters at the "eye" or axis of rotation and discharges more or less radially into a chamber at a higher pressure corresponding to the sum of the centrifugal force of rotation and the energy is given to the fluid by the vanes. A Close coupled pump, like centrifugal pumps, utilizes an impeller driven through a motor shaft adaptor that is attached directly to the electric drive motor. The head of the close couple pump is supported with a rear housing bolted directly to motor flange.
A centrifugal pump converts primer mover's energy into kinetic energy and subsequently this kinetic energy is converted into pressure energy of the fluid being pumped. It possesses an impeller with a central eye through which the fluid enters the pump. The high speed impeller accelerates the fluid radial outward from the pump chasing. This increases the fluid pressure and thus gets pushed out of the pump into a pipe to continue its flow.
This flexible and strong centrifugal pump though needs regular maintenance as it faces problems of corrosion and overheating due to low flow.
These pumps are one of the most commonly used pumps and Centrifugal Pumpsmanufacturer India make it available in a wide variety of nature, provisions and materials of construction. Some of the premier types of centrifugal pumps used in manufacturing and other industries are close couple, end-suction and self-priming pumps.
In end-suction pumps the fluid flows directly into the impeller and its design forms 90° angle between inlet and outlet. End suction pumps are employed for diverse applications- Industrial liquid transfer, industrial pressure boosting, water supply, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) and irrigation.
A self-priming pump is designed with a large volute that enables it to re-prime itself under lift conditions. This arrangement eliminates the requirement of suction as well as discharge check valves.

Self priming Centrifugal Pumps are the best alternative for applications that require priming, especially in an unsupervised environment of dewatering application.  Essentially, closed coupled pumps are extensively used for chemical processes, deionization of water and treatment of waste-water. Further, these pumps are used widely in commercial, residential and municipal applications where pump has to deal with trash and other debris without clogging.
Self priming pumps have extensive design range to serve broad spectrum of applications. Today, many metallurgical options and configurations of shaft seal are available in the market to finely cater to specific service.
